The Morrison Center: Where Live Theater and Boise Shine Bright
When you think of Boise, a lot of things come to mind—the stunning foothills, the Boise River, and of course, our vibrant live theater scene. Right at the heart of it all is the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts.
Nestled beside the Boise River on the Boise State University campus, this beloved venue has been home to some of the greatest performances in the Treasure Valley for over 40 years. Whether it’s a Broadway hit, a mesmerizing ballet, or the Boise Philharmonic sweeping you off your feet, there’s a kind of connection that only happens in the theater. It’s personal, yet shared—a little slice of magic we all get to take part in together.
Bringing the Arts to Boise
The Morrison Center has been at the heart of Boise’s arts scene since 1984, fulfilling Velma and Harry Morrison’s dream of bringing world-class performing arts to Idaho. With its striking 10-story stage house and seating for 1,994 people, it stands as a crown jewel of downtown Boise.
As the long-standing venue for touring Broadway shows like Hamilton and Wicked, the Morrison Center also hosts some of our favorite hometown gems like Ballet Idaho and Opera Idaho. The Center is also known for its exceptional programming and accolades as Idaho’s Home for the Performing Arts, existing as a vital community resource offering educational opportunities, world-class entertainment, and a significant economic impact.
This season, the Morrison Center is hosting a dazzling lineup of performances through its MC Presents series. A standout event is Michael Feinstein featuring the Carnegie Hall Ensemble: A Tribute to Tony Bennett on Tuesday, March 11th. Feinstein’s tribute promises an unforgettable evening celebrating the timeless music and legacy of the late Tony Bennett. If you’re a fan of jazz, classic standards, or simply an extraordinary night out, this is a can’t-miss event.
