The year 2020 has been rough for Boise local businesses. In an effort to alleviate the hardship local businesses have suffered this year, the City of Boise has introduced the Municipal Small Business Grant Program.
Due to COVID-19, many businesses have struggled financially. Some businesses have shortened hours, some have had to shut their doors for a period of time, and unfortunately, some have closed their doors for good.
What is the Municipal Small Business Grant Program?
The Municipal Small Business Grant Program is a $1.5 million relief fund, specifically for local businesses that have taken a hit from COVID-19. The grant targets small businesses with less than 100 employees to provide financial relief. Businesses can apply for up to $15,000 and use those funds to help with any financial discomfort they have endured during the pandemic.
How can Boise businesses apply?
The City of Boise has an eligibility criteria page for those interested in applying for the grant. Once you have determined eligibility, there is a step-by-step guide for applying online. The grant is for businesses who have needed financial assistance from June 20, 2020, and will go until December 30, 2020.
The City of Boise does allow for small businesses who have received aid to apply for the grant. Funds received from previous assistance will be deducted from the accepted grant. During this time, Totally Boise encourages residents to support their favorite local businesses whenever they can—going to the store to get coffee? Try a local roaster instead!
