The Totally Boise SUP Yoga Experience

It isn’t just the storefront that Idaho River Sports has grown to encompass, they also offer one of the largest fleets of SUP, kayak and raft rentals in the area. Idaho River Sports hosts and teaches classes to help get the Boise community comfortable with Paddleboarding, recreational kayaking, and SUP Yoga. Totally Boise got to take a class, a SUP Yoga class, and was impressed with the dedicated instructor and preparation to teach what we would call a pretty difficult skill.

Walking up to the class, we were presented with paddleboards already lined up along the water, taking away the stress of carrying your paddleboard rental to and from the water. In this specific class, we had 5 people total to keep it a quaint and relaxing experience, while ensuring the ability to socially distance ourselves from others in the class.

The class, as you can expect, took a lot of concentration, focus, and practice. We were guided through a yoga flow while working to remain balanced and on top of the board. According to Natasha, Idaho River Sports class instructor, balance and stability are the biggest benefits to SUP Yoga. You’re working the tiny muscles in your body that typically don’t get used, helping increase mind to body connection and create a peaceful state of mind. Being surrounded by the beauty of Boise and the water underneath our feet left for a pretty amazing experience on Quinn’s Pond. It’s safe to say that our team will be back for more classes from Idaho River Sports.

Along with SUP Yoga, the team at Idaho River Sports teaches Introduction to SUP, Introduction to Flatwater/Rec Kayaking , and more. The class costs include complete packages with rental boards/boats, paddles, professional instructions, and an ensured good time. The class schedule is listed online, however you can call to reserve your spot. Classes on the water continue for as long as the weather permits, typically ending for the year as the weather gets cold.
