July 24th is also referred to as National Drive-Thru Day! You can’t expect us not to celebrate the convenience of staying in the comfort of our car, right? Which is why we’ve got this list of the local Boise-owned drive-thrus around town. Take a look and then decide which place you’re going to stop at to celebrate the establishments who allow us to take multitasking to a whole new level.

Westside Drive-In

Featured in the hit Food Network show, “Diner’s, Drive-In’s, and Dives” and the recipient of many awards over the last 22 years, is Boise’s own Westside Drive-In. Chef Lou, nominated Best Chef of Boise this year and many years before, believe Happy Cooks make Happy People!

Hawkins Pac-Out

An old-fashioned, family-owned, and operated drive-thru located off Bogus Basin Rd is Hawkins Pac-Out. Known for serving up some of the best breakfast burritos and specialty Burgers of the Week, you won’t be disappointed when you stop at this original Boise drive-thru.

Bad Boy Burgers

Locally family-owned and operated, Bad Boy Burgers has two locations in Boise and it’s no surprise why. With tasty breakfast burritos, specialty sides, and signature sandwiches, Bad Boy Burgers is a Boise staple. Their pound of fries is sure to make some jealous family, friends or strangers drift over on a scented cloud.

Big Bun Drive In

Since 1954, Big Bun has been serving up the classic drive-in experience with the Boise community. Big Bun takes pride in their fresh burgers that come from RR Ranch, the best beef supplier in the Northwest. Living by the motto “where classic flair meets old-school values” you’re in good hands at Big Bun. They were even featured in the star-studded movie set in Boise, The To Do List(R).

California Mexican Food

New to the Boise drive-thru scene, California Mexican Food opened its doors to the City of Boise in January 2020. All-natural ingredients and secret recipe hot sauces, really make this drive-thru stand out as one of the best Authentic Mexican restaurants in the area.

Los Betos

Idaho, we’re sure you’re familiar with Los Betos as they arguably have some of the best burritos in town! With seven locations across the Treasure Valley, they’ve got authentic Mexican food including chimichangas, tacos, tostadas, and so much more. We haven’t met a hangover yet that can’t be cured by one of their burritos!

Viking Drive In

This State St burger joint has become a Boise staple, with great burgers and some of the best fries! Viking Drive-In has epic burger options, including the Baby Henderson and the Jalapeno Swiss Bacon Burger. If you plan on stopping by we suggest getting their signature Scotch N’ Soda drink!

Fanci Freeze

Located in both Boise and Meridian, Fanci Freeze has been serving Boise for over 50 years! Most commonly recognized for their amazing frozen treats, especially their abundance of milkshake flavors, Boise residents continue to cherish this drive-thru. We recommend the Butterscotch dipped cone too.

Gyro Shack

Located across the Treasure Valley, Gyro shack is a great place to get quick Greek and Mediterranean pita’s, salads, and rice bowls. Right off Garrity Boulevard by Lakeview Water Park in Nampa, Beefy’s is serving up some quintessential Idaho burgers and fast classics. The creations stacked between two buns are going to need both hands to tackle their delicious flavor.

National Drive-Thru Day was created in 2002 and founded by the first drive-thru chain, Jack in the Box. So today we want to shout out all of the Treasure Valley drive-thrus that are making our lives easier and continuing to serve up some of the tastiest meals in the valley!
