When this blog was first written, we had just attended a local activism event. Two Boise activists came together to put on a Black Lives Candlelight Vigil at the Idaho State Capitol. With a great amount of the community showing up to support, crowds were reaching from the Capitol Building all the way to Bannock and beyond. It was amazing for the community to have the ability to mourn, heal, and love as a whole in peaceful solidarity.
At Totally Boise, our goal is and has always been to post uplifting, insightful, and positive stories and showcase what truly makes Boise stand out. We’re going to continue striving to be a light, understanding one of the most valuable ways to show solidarity is by supporting the Black owned businesses and organizations in our community and across our nations with our own dollars.
If you’re interested in showing your support for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day or through Black History Month, here is the complete list of the Treasure Valley’s Black owned businesses, organizations working with local Black causes, and where to celebrate Black-Idahoan excellence!
