Do You Know Which Boise State Broncos Have Been Drafted to the NFL?

While we all are counting down the days until we can cheer on our boys in blue we at least got to get our sports fix in by watching some of our Boise State football players get drafted to the NFL. While it isn’t as exciting as seeing the stadium scream and cheer on our current football team, it is still great to be able to cheer for them through our TVs, living out their dreams in the big leagues and keeping Boise State’s Football at heart with them. Boise State Broncos has become a force in the college football world and it is awesome we get to support our alumni in the NFL.

Boise State has had quite a few players athletic and fortunate enough to continue their passion on a different field. Did you know that since 1970 Boise State Football has had over 50 players recruited to an NFL team? Go Broncos!

Over the last 5 years, we have seen multiple players from our team get drafted to some of the top teams in the NFL. Jay Ajayi got picked in round 5 in 2015 and played for the Miami Dolphins, Shea McClellin got drafted in round 1 in 2013 to the Chicago Bears, and many more.

A Little More About Our 2020 Draft Picks

John Hightower: Graduated from Boise State University in 2019. Hightower was named to the All-Mountain West Second Team at both wide receivers and kick returner. Hightower is known for his speed. He actually went to college for track and field and ended up excelling in football, from there his career took off.

Ezra Cleveland: Cleveland was named to All-Mountain West First Team for a second-straight season. In 2019, he was a redshirt junior and was drafted in round 2 to the Minnesota Vikings. Cleveland is a backup right tackle for the NFL but expects to excel with more practice.

Curtis Weaver: Earned nine All-American honors, was named to the All-America First Teams by Walter Camp, CBS Sports, and The Sporting News, earned second-team All-America honors from the AFCA, Associated Press, The Athletic, ESPN, FWAA, and USA TODAY, and was.voted the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, earning his third-straight selection to the All-Mountain West First Team. Weaver has excelled at Boise State University and has continued to make Bronco Nation proud. We look forward to watching him continue his career in Miami.

That is just a handful of the players that got drafted to the NFL that played for the Boise State Broncos. The list goes on and on, it’s amazing to see how many players from Boise State were able to play out their dreams and continue on their Boise State Bronco legacy on an NFL team.
