A trusted banking institution since 1952, local credit union Icon Credit Union has made the merge with Horizon Credit Union to provide more banking opportunities to the community while maintaining its quality service and commitment to members.
Sharing the same ideals, the merger from Icon to Horizon provides the community with banking at the same great rates, more locations, and advanced online technology banking options.
Starting as Idaho Federal Credit Union for police officers and Idaho Department of Transportation staff, their quality banking grew rapidly. Making the switch to Icon Credit Union, they were able to expand banking services to Oregon.
President and CEO of Horizon Credit Union, Jeff Adams, talked about why Icon and Horizon were the perfect match in Icon taking the next step for expansion.
“The cultures and values of our organizations align so well. We are confident this partnership will provide greater value to all of our members, employees, and the communities we serve,” said Adams.
Horizon now has 28 locations throughout Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana, with plans to expand locations in 2021.
Full-Service Financial Institution with Credit Union Benefits
With similar ideas, Horizon is giving people an even better reason to switch to a Credit Union.
Regional President Connie Miller states Icon sought to evolve as the needs of the community and its members shifted.
“Prior to the merge, we had a great relationship with Horizon. They are the top Credit Union in service and community giveback company. Horizon fit Icon’s culture in investing and taking care of each member,” said Miller.
Not only does Horizon offer exceptional service, but they are a full-service financial institution.

One of the reasons we loved Icon Credit Union so much was the effort they put back into the community. Horizon is continuing Icon’s commitment to the Treasure Valley and partners, much like its positive relationship with The Salvation Army, whom they recently donated $5,000 for their Red Kettle Campaign.
“Horizon is equally invested into the community,” said Miller.

If you are thinking about switching financial institutions, Horizon is definitely a great place to start. From the staff, company investment in the community to financial education, Horizon’s top priority is its members’ financial success.
