Originating in 2012, Treefort has since grown into a diverse festival that now incorporates aspects of music, food, beer, comedy, stories, tech, film, and yoga. Treefort was even named City of Boise’s Cultural Ambassador for being an event that represents Boise in the most positive light. Boise is a city that values community and creativity, and by bringing major artists and influential people from all over, Treefort allows Boise to shine and share with others what it’s all about.

Music

This year 440 bands are set to play this year across 22 various venues in Downtown Boise. You have the option of purchasing a Treefort pass which will include all venues, a Zipline Pass which will get you to the front of the line, and an under 21 pass which will allow for access to all the age-restricted venues. In addition, there are even options available for single day tickets, main stage tickets, and individual show tickets. Note that some venues are 21+.

The Music Starts Each Day at:

  • Wednesday, March 20: 5:30 pm
  • Thursday, March 21: 3:00 pm
  • Friday, March 22: 2:00 pm
  • Saturday, March 23: 11:00 am
  • Sunday, March 25: 1:00 pm

Yogafort

Take the time to de-stress and relax at Yogafort. During three out of the five days of Treefort, you can unwind with a yoga class set to live music. All classes will take place at the JUMP Building (Jack’s Urban Meeting Place), and will focus on different aspects of yoga while giving a unique yoga festival experience.

Some classes include:

  • Honey for the Sol
  • Kriya for Stamina and Inexhaustible Energy
  • Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation
  • Plus so many more!

Alefort

Much like that of the diverse music lineup, Alefort will have various different types of beer, cider, and food. From local and regional breweries, you can expect the best of the best.

  • Freemont Brewing (Seattle, WA)
  • New Belgium Brewing (Fort Collins, CO)
  • Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (Paso Robles, CA)
  • Lost Grove Brewing (Boise, ID)
  • Payette Brewing (Boise, ID)
  • Shacksbury Cider (Vergennes, VT)

Those are just a few of what to expect. Something else to note this year is that instead of beer being organized by brewery, they will be organized by flavor and story profile. Alefort is focused this year on showing its attendees how to love and appreciate beer with its new layout.

Comedyfort

Across numerous locations, you can check out stand-up comedians from all over. Liquid Laughs will be the main destination, but you can also check out the Main Stage, Woodland Empire, and the Owyhee Tavern. Pop in for some serious belly laughs and drinks!

Food Fort 2018

Foodfort

You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy this fort. This three-day aspect of Treefort will bring together a team of local and national chefs to provide a delicious experience. Going on its third year, you can expect Foodfort to have insight into the culture of food and how we incorporate food in our day-to-day routines. The Boise Basque Center will be the host of all the foodie events.

Some events include:

  • Save the Plant: Go Vegan!
  • Keep Sharp! Knife Skills with Shun
  • Raising the Steaks with High Acheson

Plus so many more!

Hackfort

Or better known as the ‘Digital Humanities Conference’ Hackfort is all about tech culture. The conversation surrounding the latest topics in tech, while also sharing personal and unique experiences, brings together the innovators, creators, gamers, leaders, makers and the doer of Treefort. All forums will take place in the JUMP Building.

Some forums include:

  • Genuine Lessons in Artificial Intelligence
  • The Secret Life of a Gaming Storyteller. Yea, That’s a Thing.
  • From the Love of Technology to the Technology of Love

Plus so many more!

Kidfort

Something the public may not know is that kids 12 and younger can attend the festival for free. Treefort wants to be an unforgettable experience for all ages. Various programs and things to do will be available throughout the festival.

Some Activities to Take the Kiddos to:

  • Taco Tuesday on a Friday! Homemade Tortillas & Taco Workshop @ El Korah Shrine
  • Jack and the Dragon Puppet Show @ El Korah Shrine
  • Kidfort Dance Battle @ The Nest

Plus so many more!

Storyfort

One of the more unique parts of the festival, Storyfort provides a captivating literary experience for attendees. Narratives created by poets, fiction writers, journalists, podcasters, musicians, and so many more will be showcased throughout the week. If you’re interested in expanding your overall scope of spoken words through stories on assorted topics that facilitate discourse then check out Storyfort!

A Few to Check Out:

  • The Lucky One - A Refugee’s Story @ Owyhee
  • Drag Queen Story Hour @ Owyhee (First Floor Cafe Space)
  • Couch Surfer Artist Series @ Radio Boise Stage

Plus so many more!

Something Important to Note:

There will no longer be plastic at Treefort Main Stage. Sustainability is a priority of the festival, and keeping Boise as a beautiful clean city is a team effort. The festival will offer several reusable options, so be on the lookout! Help spread the word and go green.
