Treefort Music Fest Announces a Live Music Relief Fund

Last updated May 05, 2020 by Totally Boise

With the cancellation or postponement of live music events, our local musicians are struggling to find ways to pay their bills. Boise is known for their talented and creative musicians around town and we all want to do our part to help them out. Treefort Music Fest has created a fund to help those who work in our local live music industry. The Treefort Live Music Relief Fund is aimed to help financial hardships for musicians struggling to find work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With help of the community, Treefort Music Fest was able to commission 69 local creators than to $69,000 contributed by 80 patrons and organizations through the COVID Culturla Commissioning Fund (CCC Fund). The fund was a collaborative partnership organized by Treefort Music Fest, the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, and the Boise City Department of Arts & History.

We feel honored to see the amazing works of Treefort Music Fest and the many other community members, who have risen together in support of our local art community.

The Treefort Live Music Relief Fund is created to help Boise-based artists, musicians, audio and lighting engineers, techs, tour managers, production managers, and all others who work in the live music industry. To help kick off this fund Treefort Music Fest has announced the release of House Show.

House Show is a limited edition beer made by Mother Earth Brew Co., in Nampa, Idaho. This beer is a ridiculously smooth IPA that everyone will love. House Show originally started as what they called “Fresh AF” and was set to debut at Alefort 2020, but with COVID-19 changing multiple plans they changed the name, put it in a can, and created a delicious at-home beer. All proceeds from House Show sales will support the Treasure Valley live music industry.

They also have announced a great fund intended to support our local creative community and capture creative expressions during this unprecedented world event. The fund is called COVID Cultural Commissioning Fund (CCC Fund) and is a collaborative partnership between Treefort Music Fest, the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, and the Boise City Department of Arts & History.

A to-be-determined number of awarded individuals will receive a one-time, $1,000 commission to create work that explores, documents, and/or reflects on personal experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to use this fund as a way to let our creative community document their experiences for future generations
