OUR COMMUNITY PROMISE
Totally Boise is a community resource. We welcome honest, constructive perspectives, but not content that attacks, exploits, or misleads people.
THE IMPORTANT DETAILS
Clear expectations make for a stronger community. These draft terms are part of the contributor application, and can be expanded below.
Applicants must be 18 or older, identify themselves accurately, provide a working email address, and submit truthful application details. Totally Boise may verify identity and experience and may approve, decline, suspend, or withdraw contributor access at its reasonable editorial discretion. Applying does not guarantee acceptance or publication.
Approved applicants receive an individual contributor login. Credentials may not be shared, sold, or used by a third party. Contributors must protect access and promptly report suspected compromise. Contributor accounts provide no administrative, financial, or site-management permissions.
Submissions must substantially relate to Boise, the Treasure Valley, or relevant Idaho communities and offer a genuine community resource. Original guides, interviews, recommendations, event coverage, and constructive opinion are welcome. Totally Boise may reject off-topic, repetitive, misleading, or low-value submissions.
No profanity, vulgar or abusive language, nudity, sexually explicit material, hate speech, harassment, threats, graphic violence, illegal instructions, discriminatory attacks, doxxing, or invasions of privacy. Coverage of sensitive local issues must remain factual, responsible, and respectful.
Contributors are responsible for checking dates, prices, hours, addresses, quoted statements, and factual claims, and for identifying opinion as opinion. Cite reliable sources for material claims. Notify Totally Boise promptly of factual errors or major changes. We may edit, label, correct, unpublish, or remove a story at any time.
Writers must own or have valid permission to submit their text, photos, video, graphics, quotes, and other media. No plagiarism, scraped posts, unauthorized reproductions, or misuse of others' trademarks. The contributor is responsible for securing necessary licenses, permissions, and releases, including for identifiable subjects when appropriate.
Disclose paid relationships, free products, gifts, employment, ownership, family connections, or other material ties to featured people or businesses. Sponsored articles, affiliate links, product offers, and self-promotional pieces require prior written approval and appropriate on-page labeling. No undisclosed advertising or manipulative link-building.
AI tools may assist with research organization, proofreading, and drafting, but contributors remain responsible for accuracy, originality, permissions, and a real local perspective. Do not submit mass-generated, fabricated, impersonating, or unverified AI content. Disclose material AI-generated images and significant AI authorship when requested by editors.
Approved contributors may submit as many eligible articles as they wish. Every submission is subject to Totally Boise's quality, scheduling, moderation, and editorial review. There is no guaranteed publication date, minimum number of publications, featured placement, traffic, ranking, or social promotion.
Published stories will ordinarily appear on the contributor's author profile, alongside an approved bio and headshot. One relevant external website link may appear below the bio, subject to safety and editorial review. Totally Boise may remove or change links and makes no commitment about search-engine treatment or referral traffic.
Contributors retain copyright to their original work. By submitting content, they grant Totally Boise a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, format, edit for clarity, publish, display, distribute, excerpt, promote, and archive it on Totally Boise-operated channels, with attribution where practicable. Contributors affirm they have authority to grant these rights. Material factual edits should be handled through an editorial correction process.
Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, contribution is voluntary and unpaid. Acceptance does not create employment, agency, partnership, endorsement, or a guarantee of promotional services. Contributors are responsible for their own expenses and any applicable taxes.
Totally Boise may request changes, apply labels, disable links, suspend submissions, reject or remove material, or terminate accounts for violations or editorial reasons. Serious safety or rights concerns may lead to immediate action. Contributors may request reconsideration through the designated contributor-support channel; reconsideration does not guarantee reinstatement.
Application details should be used for eligibility review, contributor communication, account administration, and content attribution, and handled under Totally Boise's published Privacy Policy. Publish only the author name, biography, photo, website, and other information the contributor agrees to display. Never publish private application email addresses by default. Production forms require secure transmission, retention limits, and a real privacy notice.
Contributors may request account closure or removal of their submitted work. Totally Boise will assess removal requests reasonably, while retaining the ability to keep legally required records, backups, archival references, and material needed to resolve disputes. Future rights and any agreed removal timelines should be documented in the final legal policy.
Totally Boise may update the contributor program and communicate material changes to active contributors. The final binding agreement should identify the correct legal entity, effective date, contact information, governing law, dispute procedure, and acceptance process. This mockup is a proposed draft and needs legal review before launch.
