- Boise Angels
Boise Angels is on a mission to create sustainable change in the foster care system so that every single child in foster care in the Treasure Valley will be supported and empowered to succeed. Valuing the community of Boise, Boise Angels works to create a trauma-informed, wrap-around support service model to help strengthen families.
Creating a network of volunteers, Boise Angels empowers the children, families, and volunteers to make a consistent difference that is both meaningful and powerful. Finding value in love, friendship and positive role models, Boise Angels works to speak truth and life into the children in foster care.
“Our vision is to see every child in the foster care system supported by a Love Box group and every youth supported by a Dare to Dream mentor. Our dream is to open chapters in every major metropolitan city in the nation so every single child in foster care in the United States will be supported and empowered to succeed.”
So what are the Boise Angels Programs?
Boise Angels works to walk alongside children in the foster care system, as well as their caretakers, by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building and mentorship. Boise Angels has two programs that invite the community to get involved in supporting our local foster care families.
The Love Box
Children are removed from their homes and placed in the temporary protection and nurturing home of a foster care family. Boise Angels found that trauma can be healed in the context of healthy, supportive relationships. Hence the start of the Love Box. The Love Box program provides support to foster families through matching volunteers with families to enforce a greater sense of belonging and self-confidence for the children and enhance support to the families.
As a Love Box volunteer, you are matched with a local foster family based on compatibility and scope of needs. From there, volunteers are committed to showing up monthly to work on enrichment activities for the children and foster families.

Dare to Dream
3% of children in foster care will not graduate college, and only about 50% of those who age out of care will obtain a high school diploma. Young adults who have grown up within the foster care system experience instability in their lives and often experience learning disabilities, limited life skills, health problems, emotional problems, and behavior problems that can lead to negative developmental outcomes. The lack of support and resources combined with multiple traumas affect the success and well being in life upon aging out.
Boise Angels created Dare to Dream as a way for mentors to walk alongside youth as they navigate through life’s challenges. Mentors provide guidance, support, and wisdom to these youth. Relationships between mentors and youth last a lifetime and can completely encourage the youth to a fulfilling life.
