The City of Boise has undertaken the large responsibility of assuring all of its citizens have equal access to its outdoor attractions. In recent years, this has meant building trails, playgrounds, sports courts, and more that are ADA compliant and truly enjoyable to experience.
To help their mission, we’ve compiled a list of programs, trails, and parks that were adapted for everyone to enjoy. Please contact us if you find we are missing something, and feel free to contact the City of Boise with any questions or suggestions to make our city more accessible.
Boise Parks and Recreation Programs
The Boise Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to explore, recreate, and play.
They have several types of programming, starting with their AdVenture Program (short for Adaptive Adventures), which offers recreational activities, wilderness excursions, fitness programs, and sports and social activities specifically designed for individuals with disabilities along with their families and friends.
Classes, camps, and activities vary by season but include offerings like adaptive cycling along the Greenbelt, adaptive rugby, adaptive basketball, and Wilderness Within Reach Fly-In Trips, where individuals with physical disabilities and one companion are flown in small aircraft into the Frank Church.
Wilderness to spend two nights at a remote ranch. If individuals with disabilities would like to participate in a non-adaptive program, they can utilize inclusion services in which modifications may be provided so they can fully participate.
