Personalized Patient-Centered Health Care in Boise: Dr. Bridgette Baker and the Mission of IDID

Last updated May 22, 2025 by Totally Boise

In today’s fast-paced healthcare system, many patients feel rushed, overlooked, and unheard. But finding a doctor who truly listens—who takes the time to understand your concerns and build a lasting relationship—can make all the difference.

Meet Dr. Bridgette Baker: Providing Thoughtful, Flexible Care Through Independent Practice and IDID

When you walk into Dr. Bridgette Baker's family medicine practice at Momentum Medical Group of Idaho, you’re not just meeting a physician—you’re connecting with someone who truly values long-term relationships and compassionate, individualized care. As a board-certified family medicine doctor, Dr. Baker has made it her mission to prioritize patient needs over bureaucracy, and she's found the perfect avenue at Momentum Medical Group of Idaho and involvement with IDID. (Independent Doctors of Idaho).

A Shift Toward Meaningful Patient Relationships

Dr. Baker’s journey into medicine didn’t begin with family practice in mind. Like many young students influenced by personal experience, she entered medical school thinking she would become a surgeon, having spent significant time as a patient herself due to sports injuries. But as she progressed through her education, she realized her passion lay in building lasting relationships and providing continuity of care—qualities not always emphasized in surgical specialties.

Family medicine, with its broad scope and emphasis on whole-person care, turned out to be a perfect fit. “We treat a lot of different things and try to do a lot of it all at once,” she says. “It’s really rewarding to help people navigate through it all, no matter what they’re going through.”

The Challenge and Reward of Family Medicine

The very thing that makes family medicine so fulfilling—its variety—is also what makes it challenging. Dr. Baker sees patients of all ages, addressing a wide spectrum of conditions. It requires her to juggle a lot of medical information while also responding to patient needs on a deeply personal level. Her days are fast-paced and packed, with a mix of scheduled visits and same-day appointments to accommodate urgent needs. In between, she’s fielding phone calls, reviewing lab results, and coordinating care.

Breaking Free from the Big Box Model

Dr. Baker is quick to point out a common misconception about family medicine—that it’s defined by short, rushed appointments with little time for real connection. “A lot of people think family medicine means quick visits and minimal interaction, but that’s often a product of large healthcare systems,” she explains. “Independent practices like ours, and being part of IDID, allow for more flexibility and more meaningful care.”

Why IDID Matters

IDID has been instrumental in enabling Dr. Baker and physicians like her to thrive outside of corporate healthcare systems. After a stint in Montana following a draining experience in a large healthcare organization, Dr. Baker returned to Idaho with a renewed sense of purpose. She joined Momentum Medical Group of Idaho and IDID at the same time, drawn by the promise of autonomy and better patient care.

"IDID supports physicians who want to practice independently and focus on quality care,” she says. “It helps prevent burnout, gives us more time with patients, and allows for a healthier work-life balance.”

IDID doesn’t just offer support—it was foundational in the creation of Dr. Baker’s clinic. Many of the organization’s early members were doctors seeking an alternative to the rigidity of hospital systems. With specialists moving into environments like Treasure Valley Hospital and seeking more freedom in their practice, the formation of IDID became a natural next step. Dr. Baker’s clinic is a direct product of this movement—an example of how physician-led innovation can reshape local healthcare.

Striking a Balance—For Doctors and Patients

For Dr. Baker, being part of IDID means more than just flexibility. It means creating a space where patients feel heard and valued. It means being able to offer personalized care without being rushed. And it means being able to go home at the end of the day to her three children, knowing she’s done meaningful work that aligns with both her professional and personal values.

"The biggest feedback we get is that patients feel heard,” she shares. “That makes people feel like you really care—and that’s what matters most.”

Dr. Bridgette Baker is more than just a family medicine physician—she’s a passionate advocate for personalized care, physician autonomy, and the value of community-focused healthcare. Through her practice and her involvement with IDID, she’s helping redefine what it means to be truly cared for.
