6 Reasons You Should Go to a Boise Hawks Minor League Baseball Game

Last updated August 12, 2021 by Dani Hansen

Recently, the Totally Boise team took a field trip to see our local baseball team, the Boise Hawks, in action! From the hot dogs and the beer to the pop-flies, the Hawks Memorial Stadium was a great excuse to get out of the house and rejoin the enthusiasm of the local community. Here are six reasons to check out Boise's minor league baseball team this summer:

It's Affordable

With tickets starting at $9, a Hawks game is the perfect way to keep your family entertained during the spring and summer months. The snacks are also affordable, and with the $2 beers on Thursdays, they are an affordable way to clench your thirst! And who doesn't crave an authentic ballpark hot dog from time to time. They've got all the stadium classics, plus other treats and beverages from local businesses.

The Boise Hawks have families in mind.

It's Family Friendly

Minor league baseball games are extremely family-friendly, especially at the Hawks Stadium. Not only can your children come and enjoy the game, but they can become official members of the Boise Hawks Kids Club! This FREE membership gets children special perks throughout the season including autographs and meet-and-greets with the players, free food, and access to the Kids Zone! Or if they've got a competitive side, you can enter them in a variety of events throughout the game like the Potato Race.

It's on the Greenbelt

A Hawks game is just a short greenbelt bicycle ride from downtown Boise or anywhere along the green belt. The Hawks Memorial Stadium provides a bike rack for fans who want to ride down. This will save you time and the hassle of parking and leaving the Memorial Stadium parking lot. Remember to bring a bike light for the ride home!

Boise Hawks are Independent & Local Minded

After the cancelation of the 2020 season, the Boise Hawks made the major move of going independent.

The Boise Hawks are now a part of the Pioneer League. This league is not directly affiliated with Major League baseball. This effectively means that instead of being controlled by the needs of a larger team, each player can be approached by a major league and make contracts at their own discretion.

What does this mean?

The Boise Hawks are now completely local! Going independent means that they will have more control over the roaster and how they give back to the community. They were able to bring on new players from all over the Treasure Valley including a player from Eagle, a graduate from Capital High School, a player from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, and 5 Boise State players!

They are Dog Friendly on Wednesdays

Every Wednesday home game, the Boise Hawks not only invite you, but they invite your furry companions to join in on the fun. The stadium is equipped to keep your four-legged friends cool with full kiddy-pools. There is also an appearance from Blitz The Bat Dog and fun dog-related events throughout the game!

It's the Great American Pastime

There is no better way to celebrate family, friends, and summertime than attending the long-standing American pastime - Baseball. If you are looking for an affordable family outing or a casual date-night spot, Boise Hawks has you covered. The Hawks also invite you to come to spend your birthday, your office, or your family reunion with the team! These games are a great way to gather with your community and fellow baseball enthusiasts.
