Tamarack Lodge at Osprey Meadows

Winter is upon the city of Boise. For some, the chilly temperatures means hibernating inside but for others, it means gathering up your gear and heading to the mountains. Whether you are a fan of winter or not, Tamarack Lodge is a great weekend getaway that combines the best of both worlds for college students and families alike. Tamarack Resort is nestled in the little town of Donnelly, Idaho. Since it is just three hours away from Boise it makes for a great overnight or weekend trip.

View from Estate Home at Tamarack

The options for staying at Tamarack Resort are unlimited. Visitors can choose from staying at the Lodge at Osprey Meadows, cottages, chalets, townhomes and estate homes. It gets even better, all of these awesome locations can be found on the mountain and in the resort. Keep an eye out for killer deals and discounts like their promo running right now, “3rd Night Free if you Book By November 30‎.” I recently booked a beautiful, new estate with a group of friends for New Year’s weekend. The selling point for me was the hot tub underneath the ski lift. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Opening Day December 2016 at Tamarack

The mountain itself is currently projected to open December 8th. Tamarack Mountain’s summit is 7,700 feet elevation and it offers 1,020 skiable acres. Tamarack’s two main lifts are the Tamarack and Summit Express (which take you to the top). Although there are only a few lifts, Tamarack has 42 trails on the mountain. Still not satisfied? With a bit of hiking there some epic off trail runs that can get you into some waist deep powder on a good day. Even on opening day, I have never waited more than two minutes to get on a lift. The mountain is great for friends and family who want to explore the mountain to themselves or just shred on some corduroy groomers.

Gold Fork Hot Springs

One of my favorite hot springs, Gold Fork is about a 15 minute drive from Tamarack resort. It provides a relaxing, fun environment to spend a cold fall or winter day. Gold Fork hot springs has three geothermally heated, mineral rich pools ranging from hot, medium and cool temperatures. It cost $10 for adults to enter but offers heated changing rooms, lockers, and suit/towel rentals. Alcohol is allowed, but no glass containers. To find out more about how to get to Gold Fork hot springs and the hours they are open, visit their site below.
